Idyllic beaches
In the late 1960s, before the troubles in the next decade, Famagusta was an extremely popular place for the rich and famous to stay for their sunny summer’s holiday. We would now encourage you to rediscover this beautiful area! The most idyllic beaches include:

Glapsides Public Beach

Glapsides Public Beach was voted second-best beach in North Cyprus, after Karpas Golden Beach!

Silver Beach

Silver Beach is situated next to the ruins of Salamis and is an ideal place to combine a bit of culture and some serious sun-worshipping.

Bafra Public Beach

Bafra Public Beach is a quiet sandy beach with a good restaurant. Two nearby hotels are being built so the peace and quiet may not last too long.

The Bilfer Palm Beach

The Bilfer Palm Beach Hotel is the last hotel before the UN buffer zone and ghost town of Varosha. The hotel offers a beautiful sandy cove. It's also a fascinating place to visit, since just beyond the hotel the UN buffer zone starts, and you can still see the decaying remains of former luxury hotels on the other side of the fence in the former resort of Varosha.
